In all due respect I ask you, sir, how does the interpretation given meet the burden of proof? What I have seen so far is tacit acknowledgement that the Israelites were sinning against God by not honoring his commands concerning the transportation of the Ark. To argue further that because the passage does not say, "and God began to get angry and eventually He struck down Uzziah" it therefore means that God was "quick to anger and slow to be compassionate" is a leap of logic which reads into the text, not out of it. In addition, I could argue that based on Jonah 4:2 (a text which, even under Mr. Till's admission, clearly declares God's patience and compassion) there is sufficient reason to believe that God was not acting in the manner of which you accuse him. POOBAH Tim has

JEFF You are assuming that which you intend to prove, sir. POOBAH Further, he has shown your concerns lack logical

JEFF How has Mr. Taylor shown this? It seems clear that whether or not the Israelites were sinning is of great importance in understanding the passage at hand. Mr. Malcom, were the Israelites sinning against God in this passage? POOBAH
>I've shown you that both by a reading of the text and by analogy that
Jehovah's anger was quick, and the act in question could in no way be considered compassionate. JEFF Your analogy only succeeds inasmuch as it is based on a proper interpretation of the text, (which is, of course, the issue at hand). POOBAH So stop dodging

JEFF In all due respect sir, I am beginning to feel this way about yourself. POOBAH
>Further, I could state that you're the one making the claim that Jehovah
is

burden

JEFF I may in fact believe this, but I did not assert it outside of the context of Jonah. Thus, at the present time I am under no constraint to defend an assertion which I have not publicly stated. POOBAH You said you would deal with the verses, not shift burden of
>proof, or were you lying about that?
JEFF How have I shifted the burden of proof? Mr. Taylor made the assertion; it is his job to defend it. [snip] POOBAH
>I am asserting that anyone that gets angry & murders someone for trying
to
>help that first person is neither slow to anger nor compassionate.[snip]
Do you dispute that claim? JEFF No sir, I do not. Obviously then, the issue at hand is whether or not this is what took place during the events mentioned in 2 Sam. 6:6-7 POOBAH
>Finally then, show me why such an analogy is invalid in the ark case, or
>admit that Jehovah is a divine bastard.
JEFF It is invalid because you haven't yet demonstrated that your (Mr. Taylor's?) interpretation of the text is the proper one. Thank you for your time.
