I have a solution to this trivial problem: The next time you get the
chance to see 15,000 "rows" of soldiers marching past you, and you are
facing the same direction, looking at their backs as they are marching
by, try turning 90 degrees towards them. Miraculously, the 15,000
"rows" have just become 15,000 "columns". Gotta love it!
Joe Alward:
Don't gotta. From the 90 degree perspective, one is looking at "waves"
of rows. Marching columns are always parallel to the direction of
motion.

Maybe they were doing the "sidestep" maneuver; then they would be in
columns. Well, Joe, maybe you ARE "right" in this matter. Mind you, I
couldn't help but laugh at your phrase "'waves' of rows." Perhaps you
could add that one to your repertoire of explanations for how that
Pharaoh's magicians could have turned water into blood after ALL of the
water in Egypt had already been turned to blood: Pharaoh got his people
to walk by his magicians, forming "waves" of rows, so that they could
turn this amazing new body of water--waves and all--into blood. Well,
it's not that much more ridiculous than your other masterpieces,
wouldn't you say? If you do end up using it, though, I expect to
receive royalties!
