<< "According to the flesh" and "out of thy bowels" are not
expression that indicates a legal adoption by Joseph. We know
that Joseph wasn't Jesus' biological father, because of the
claim
that he was virgin born. It follows from this that Matthew's
genealogy is useless in establishing Jesus' credentials as
Messiah, because according to the verses above, Jesus had to be
a
direct physical decendant of king David in order to qualify as
such. My question is: If Biblegod is omniscient, why would he
"inspire" Matthew to include a genealogy in his gospel which is
  totally useless? >>

Joe Alward:

Not necessarily useless.

Maybe God wasn't interested in telling us about Jesus' ancestry.
A little
background first, then I will tell you what Randel Helms has to
say about
this.

Joe, were you paying attention to what I wrote? Joseph was NOT
Jesus' biological father, thus it doesn't matter what kind of
fancy skating Helms does, the people in the genealogies, both
Matthew's & Luke's, are NOT Jesus' ancestors. So what if the
numbe seven comes up often? And so what if Matthew managed to
arrenge the genealogies so that he got 14+14+14? It doesn't
matter one bit because, and I repeat it for clarity: Joseph was
NOT Jesus' biological father, so his ancestors are not Jesus'
ancestors. The genealogies, as far as showing Jesus was related
to David and thus Messiah, are useless! Simple as that.
