What does "bounce" mean in a title of an E-mail from the group? Is it a
reposting of private mail?

TILL
A bounced message can mean several things. In the case of a bounced
"nonmember submission," it means that someone who is not a member of the
list sent a message to Errancy, and so it was bounced into my mailbox as an
unacceptable posting. When this happens, I forward the message onto the
list and then notify the sender that those who want to post to the list will
have to *ubscribe.

Messages can bounce for other reasons. A common one is the use of a word
that the list server confuses for an administrative command (like
*ubscribe). Since administrative commands have to be sent to major-ii
instead of infidels.org, they are bounced back to me. Of course, copies of
postings that can't be delivered because of technical problems on the
receiver's end will be bounced back to me too. Today it is those with
Hotmail addresses who can't receive postings. Tomorrow it will be Yahoo or
Juno or AOL or usa.net or some other.
