I know this may seem off topic, but it really isn't. I was thinking that it might be
interesting to write an episode of "Law and Order" where members of a radical
religious sect is accused of robbing a grave where their former leader (who was
buried) died. The police arrest them, and their defense is that their leader has
risen from the dead (which is why his body isn't there). There are (four?)
eyewitnesses to this resurrection and they testify in court.
Basically the idea is, as closely as possible, to duplicate the stories in the NT as
close as possible without being obvious. The above scenario is already different
enough not to be obvious (you can put in blurbs about people seeing Elvis raised
from the dead). Of course the name of this religious cult, the leader's name, and
the names of the eyewitnesses would also have to be totally different than in the
Bible.
I bet if a Christian were to see this episode, even though the stories don't differ
from the stories in the NT in any important respect, they would be inclined not
to believe the religious fanatics in the episode. I would hazard a guess that most
Christians are also not aware of the different accounts in the NT well enough to
know that these accounts are what you are mimicking.
The problem is although I think this is a good idea, my writing skills would not be
up to this sort of a task. So if anyone else thinks this is a good idea and can do a
good job of writing something like this, they can pass this idea of as their own.
