This is a statement made by someone who assumes the existence of God. In
other words, James is begging a question that he needs to prove. I'm sure
he would not allow a Hindu to argue from the assumption that Vishnu exists
or a Zoroastrian to argue from the assumption that Ahura Mazda exists.
Let's suppose that a Hindu should send James a message that says, "The
actions of Vishnu are always within the parameters of His dominant qualities
of love, justice, wisdom, and power." How would James react to that? Would
he just roll over and say, "Well, gee, I didn't know that," or would he
insist that his opponent engage in serious debating rather than just begging
a question that is in dispute? So, James, I challenge you to do the
following: (1) Prove that this god of yours even exists. (2) Explain to
us, on the assumption that he does exist, how you could possibly know that
his actions are always within the parameters of his dominant qualities of
love, justice, and blah, blah, blah, and blah, blah, blah. In other words,
James, we would like to see at least some semblance of logical argumentation
from you rather than the constant question begging we have seen ever since
McGill began forwarding your postings to the list.
