Just a minor quibble, but it is only in the Xian recension of the Bible
that Ezra immediately follows Second Chronicles --in the Jewish TANAKH the
ordering of books is different, and although both Ezra and Second
Chronicles are grouped in the last part of the TANAKH [section Kethuvim],
they are separated by Nehemiah & First Chronicles (with Second Chronicles
being the very last book of the TANAKH). And besides, the format in
question has been used by a number of honored literary genres -- the old
movie serials, Chinese novels (both classical and the modern "martial
arts"/"kung-fu" types) and soap operas.
