You're absolutely right, Achilles. Carter has made it very clear that he is
not knowledgeable in Hebrew. When the waw consecutive was presented to him,
he informed us that he was going to have to research the matter before he
responded. If he had been expert enough to say "look back directly at the
Hebrew," as he is now doing, then he wouldn't have needed to research. He
would simply have informed us that CREA and I had misunderstood the way the
waw consecutive is used. So the fact that he is now waving aside our
responses with, "Look back directly at the Hebrew," shows that he is merely
begging the question of Turkel's accuracy in his claims in this matter. The
fact that Turkel himself is obviously no authority on Hebrew is enough to
discredit Carter's "response."
I'll repeat my challenges for Carter to (1) use his influence to get Turkel
to engage in an on-line, open-forum debate, or (2) agree that he [Carter]
will reply point by point if I post a point-by-point reply to Turkel's
"resolution" of the Genesis 2 problem.
