Ok, what exactly is the significance of the question of whether or not
Joseph
Smith had a gun on him when he died? Why does anyone care? What did I miss?

Regardless of *why* he was in jail (which I could see having some relevance)
the fact that he grabbed a gun and shot back when a lynch mob attacked him
can
hardly be used to throw any more bad light on him. I don't blame him, and I
can
confidently state that I would have done the same thing. Is there anyone on
the
list who wouldn't?

I seem to remember a certain incident involving Jesus' disciples and
swords... Perhaps the whole putting the ear back on thing arose from the
same instinct that our inerrantist friends are accusing Mormons of?

Don't forget it was omniscient Jesus who ordered his disciples to buy the
swords. He must have known what Peter was going to do with it...

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone...
