ACHILLES The ones I have know IRL and come across on the web are mostly Sunni, they all seem to agree with what I said. They do not "wholly embrace the bible" no, but they do give it special status as a holy book, although they argue that it has been corrupted in transmission (witness all the contradictions) and superceded by the superior Quran. The moslems I have known tend to be more familiar with the bible than most xtians, the places where it agrees with the Quran support their case, and the places where it disagrees with the Quran or contradicts itself supports their belief that the jews tampered with their scriptures, which violated their covenant with God and made it necessary to send Mohammed and the Quran. Allah (SWT) says: "And argue not with the people of the book unless it be in (a way) which is better (than mere arguing), except with such of them that do wrong, and say (to them): 'We believe in that which had been revealed to us and revealed to you, and our God and your God is One, and to Him we have submitted (as Muslims)" Al-Ankaboot(29):46. "And because of their breaking their covenant, We have cursed them and made hard their hearts. They change words from their places and have abandoned a good part of the message that was sent to them. And you will not cease to discover deceit in them, except a few of them. But forgive them and overlook(their misdeed). Verily! Allah loves the kindly". The Qur'an, Al-Maidah(5):13. As to ranking prophets, I am not sure what you mean. If you mean they consider all the prophets sent equally important to each other (including Mohammed) perhaps there is a doctrine to that affect, but I have not encountered it. At any rate Jesus is listed by moslems as a prophet, the immediate predeccessor of Mohammed himself. http://www.uidaho.edu/~yusuf921/25names.html Toward the question of "is Allah God?" the following article is relevant. http://kuc01.kuniv.edu.kw/~stevens/ia/allah.htm Achilles "...we are not simply contending in order that my view or that of yours may prevail, but I presume we ought both of us to be fighting for the truth..." from Philebus, the Dialogues of Plato
