Joe Alward:
Thank you for the detailed comments about the Wednesday scenario. I did, in
fact, know that the harmonization was not new; I first heard about it while
reading a post from you last week. I found your comment about the "misplaced
comma" in Mark 16:9 to be extremely interesting, among others. Other points
you made are also quite interesting. I've written an article which compares
three different harmonizations; I will revise it soon to incorporate into it
all of the points you've raised; there's currently a long footnote containing
your comments last week about *apo*. You'll find the article at
http://members.aol.com/JAlw/three_nights.html
I'm also interested in pursuing your comments about Mathew 1:17. You say,
"Matthew miscounted in the second series of 14. He gets it right in the first
14
(from Abraham to David) but miscounts the second set. He then gets it right in
the third set (from the captivity to Jesus). In sets one and three the first
item in the series is counted so there is no reason to believe it shouldn't
have
been the same in the second set of 14, only Matthew goofed."
I have an article on this "Matthew's Prophetic Pattern", at
http://members.aol.com/JAlw/prophetic_pattern.html
I, too, see a problem in Matthew 1:17, but I'm not sure I see that same
problem you do. Would you mind taking a look?
DAVE
Yes Joe, I was aware of the problem you presented in your web page but thanks
for directing my attention to it anyway.
