TILL Well, my point was that your question was worded so awkwardly that I wasn't sure what you meant. When I looked at it again, I realized that you meant to say, "Why would ITS not being exactly the same mean that the Catholic Church was not the same as the NT church?" The answer is simple. If bishops and elders in the Catholic Church do not serve in the same capacity as in the first-century church, then the structure of the CC is not the same as the structure of the first-century church. Since the first-century church appointed elders or bishops (plural) in each congregation, then a church today that does not do this is not structured or organized in the same way that the original church was.
