Independent corroboration is a recognized method of historical 
analysis. Since religious writings (of all kinds) are notorious for 
making fantastic claims, it just isn't rational to accept such claims 
without independent corroboration.  It's a perfectly sensible critical 
method.

I assume from your statement that you admit that there is no 
independent, disinterested, contemporary corroboration of the 
existence of this Jesus of Nazareth.
