Now that I have reissued (for the third time) my challenge for Ron to show
where I ever said that "priest" and "elder" were used interchangeably in the
NT, I can take a look at the "little logic" that he suggested we try. It
seems that he is arguing that since "elder" (presbuteros) and "bishop"
(episkopos) were different words, then "obviously" they were not
interchangeable. This is about as logical as saying that the words
"small" and "little" are two different words, and so they cannot be used
interchangeably or that "cop" and "policeman" are two different words
and so they cannot be used interchangeably to refer to the same law
enforcement position or that "teacher" and "instructor" are two different
words and so they cannot be used interchangeably to refer to the same
educational position or.... But I think that these examples are sufficient
to show that there isn't even a little bit of logic in Ron's argument.
*snip a lot of stuff, Ron did see all of the post, but it is too long to repost
to the list*

Ok, why would it not being exactly the same mean that it was not the
same Church? (Now, don't get Buddhist on me!) You are not the same as
you were when you were 2 years old, but you are still you. That does not
mean you are a different person.
