As I clearly stated in a previous post on this verse the "NT uses
synecdoche (the whole for the part); the ears reprersent the entire body
of the servant of Yahweh ..." from Archer and Chirichigno in _Old
Testament Quotations in the New Testament_ page 89.
The Psalms say that God _prefers_ obedience over sacrifice (see Ps 40:6;
see the NIV note for this text); see also Micah 6:6-8 and Jer 7:22-3 and
the NIV text notes for those verses.
