HELEN:
The Inquisition went on for four hundred years. A pope caused it to
come into being. No pope spoke against it. It claimed to act in the
name of the Church. No Spanish or any other bishop was punished
for it's excesses. How can the church not be blamed for this? The
Witchcraft trails were church inspired, church run and church
supported. Has the church yet deny that there is such a crime as
witchcraft? Has the church yet denied that witches should be killed?
Damn, is a lobotomy a requirement for Catholics prior to reading
church history?
RON
The pope did speak out against the abuses of the Spanish Inquisition.
Sorry to disabuse you of your prejudices. Witchcraft was against the law
in those countries.
