As I believe I suggested it makes no difference to me whether God created
the universe in 24 hour increments or not. God is the Master of time. He
controls it and exists also outside of it. He could have speeded it up if
He wished. It is irrelevent to the fact that He did it.
TILL
Ron, could you try to make a few more unsupported assertions? How do you
know that it is a "fact" that God is the "Master of time"? How do you know
that it is a "fact" that God exists outside of time? (I have asked you
before to explain how it would be possible for ANYTHING to exist outside of
time.)
RACERX
I think perhaps I can help Ron here if he has any brains at all. GRANTED: If
such a being as God existed, they would indeed be able to make time "go
slower" or "faster" without our knowledge. He/She/It could be doing it right
now! (I will refer to God as "It" because "He" indicates a being with human
male qualities, which has yet to be demonstrated) So God could be playing
with the "real" clock right now. However, if a being lived "outside of time"
and It told you It *regretted* doing something, It would be lying. Allow me
to demonstrate. If It could "time travel", It could go BACK in time, NOT do
whatever It was sorry for doing in the previous timeline, then let time
spool out as if It never did what It was sorry for. (I will leave out the
troublesome concept of omniscience for now) No one who lived "inside time"
would be the wiser, and the "timeless" being would no longer need to feel
sorry for whatever It did, because the "mistake" "never happened". The only
"mistakes" which such a being could allow would be ones It wished to have
occur, thus negating the meaning of the word "mistake" as we know it. A
timeless being would have *eternity* to go back and fix Its screwups, so as
events were percieved by mere mortals, it would appear that everything in
time happened exactly as It wished them to. The timeless being would not
NEED to be sorry for anything, and if It said It was, It would be lying.
This would be like someone who says "I'm sorry, I can't do that" when they
really mean "I don't want to do that". Their words are lies, regardless of
the semantics of their statement.
So the question remains, is "God" able to "exist outside of time" or is It a
liar? According to the bible, God expressed repentance on numerous
occasions. It was sorry he made mankind, It was sorry he made Saul King of
Israel, etc. Someday I'd like to compile a list of things God is "sorry"
for. Of course, Ron will object, saying God had to allow people their free
will, but this old argument flies in the face of the places where God
deliberately influences events by sending deceptions and so on. The God of
the bible supposedly took actions frequently, directly affecting the course
of history.
So unless my logic is flawed,
1) "God" is limited by time (it can only go "forward")
2) "God" is a liar
3) The people who wrote the Bible misquoted God. God wasn't actually sorry.
4) Words like "lying" or "sorry" have no meaning for "God"
or
5) "God" is a fable and the human makers of the fable didn't see this gaping
hole when they cooked it up.
Maybe they saw this problem, but they weren't worried because they knew
enough idiots like Ron would follow their instructions regardless of how
illogical their fables were.

Very interesting! I would like to point out though that God revealed
Himself as "Father" because humans could understand Him better by this
analogy. Nowhere scripturally does He call Himself "Mother" even though
He has "motherly", "feminine" qualities. God expresses Himself in Human
terms which are limited. But they are terms we can relate to, and He is
trying to communicate with us. It is an interesting fact that God is NOW
male since He incarnated as a human being.
