I was wondering what is the explanation for the seeming contradictions of:
2 Samuel 6:23 Michal was childless.
2 Samuel 21:8 Michal had five sons.

Hmm....you wanna hear something hilarious? My NIV bible tries (albeit
unsuccessfully) to cover up this contradiction. To quote:
2 Sam. 6:23 : "And Michal daughter of Saul had no children to the day of her
death."
2 Sam. 21:8: "But the king took Armoni and Mephibosheth, the two sons of
Aiah's daughter Rizpah, whom she had borne to Saul, together with the five
sons of Saul's daughter Merab, whom she had borne to Adriel son of Barzillai
the Meholathite."
Now, the editors of this bible, I suppose, were feeling a bit guilty about a
certain cover-up and added a footnote "c" next to Merab's name. C says, to
quote:
"Two Hebrew manuscripts, some Septuagint manuscripts and Syriac (see also 1
Samuel 18:19); most Hebrew and Septuagint manuscripts MICHAL"
Hmmm...doesn't that mean whoever edited my bible used the least manuscripts to
say Merab? Isn't that *gasp* dishonest? Doesn't that say a bit about these
xian editors?
