It is interesting that the Catholic Church has made a complete about face
on this matter. For centuries they promoted capital punishment, although
they didn't directly adminster it. The followed the hypocritical dodge of
turning convicted heretics over to the secular government to be burned
alive. In my opinion, they are no less guilty than if they had done it
themselves. I don't know why the RCC has changed its collective mind, but
I'm happy to see it.
Likewise, it is hypocrisy for several executioners to kill a prisoner, even
though one gun is loaded with a blank (in Utah and Idaho, for Mormons), or
with several persons pushing needles, one of which is non-poisonous. In my
eyes, they are all equally responsible for what they do.
It is interesting, also, that capital punishment is used today only by
communists, fascists, barbaric countries, and states where religious
fanaticism is influential.
