+AD4-TILL
+AD4-Gee, do you really think that the Bible may have been written by
+AD4AIg-collaborating+ACI- witnesses? That would really undermine its credibility,
+AD4-wouldn't it?
TERRY
This is according to you, however it is not according to me.
+AD4-TILL
+AD4-Could you tell us where Tacitus and Suetonius said anything about John the
+AD4-Baptist and James? Also, please tell us where Suetonius said anything
about
+AD4-Jesus.
TERRY
Yes, I will tell you in a upcoming post, but I believe I have already made
some mention of it.
+AD4-TERRY
+AD4APg-The 9 Bible writers in the NT, for the most part, also stated and
verified
+AD4-these +AD4-same claims. In other words they verified each others claims on
these
+AD4-particular +AD4-points.
+AD4-TILL
+AD4-In other words, you are saying that if Tacitus and Suetonius agreed with
+AD4-what NT writers said, that's good enough for you. The only problem is that
+AD4-you are claiming that Tacitus and Suetonius referred to people that they
+AD4-really never mentioned.
TERRY
Perhaps this a problem for you, but it not a problem for me. How do you
know they didn't refer to these people.
TERRY
+AD4APg- Therefore I can accept these claims that Tacitus and Suetonius made that
+AD4-are +AD4-verified by other non interested Witnesses including to some extent
+AD4-Josephus.
TILL
+AD4-But the problem is that you obviously think that Tacitus and Suetonius said
+AD4-things that they really didn't say. Please quote for us what either of
them
+AD4-said about John the Baptist and James?
TERRY
The second time you have listed this in the same post. Yes, I will mention
more on this in another post later.
+AD4-TILL
+AD4-This needs to be substantiated by +ACI-several other non interested
+AD4-witnesses+ACI-? Then please tell us why you are willing to accept the claim
+AD4-that Jesus healed a blind man by spitting on the ground, making clay, and
+AD4-putting it on the man's eyes+ACI- (John 9:1-8)? What +ACI-several+ACI- disinterested
+AD4-witnesses have substantiated this claim? The fact is that this miracle
+AD4-claim wasn't even substantiated by biased witnesses, because John was the
+AD4-only NT writer who mentioned it. You're a bit inconsistent, aren't you?
TERRY
NO I don't think I am inconsistent at all, however I think you seem
arrogant. Just because John was the only one to mention it does not make it
in itself either right or wrong. John wrote his Gospel last so he might have
wanted to add some additional things that the other Gospel writers had not
mention, otherwise it would have been a complete repeat of what someone else
had already said.
+AD4-TILL
+AD4-Well, why don't you show us verification +ACI-from a number of other non
+AD4-interested sources+ACI- that Jesus healed the blind man as claimed in John 9?
+AD4-You're showing an obvious bias here, but we knew that you had the bias
+AD4-before this matter was brought up for discussion. Your position is
+AD4-obviously that you will accept any extraordinary claim in the Bible whether
+AD4-there is disinterested, unbiased corroboration or not, but if an
+AD4-extraordinary claim is in a nonbiblical document, you demand corroboration
+AD4-by +ACI-several+ACI- disinterested parties. Thank you for confirming what we
+AD4-already knew. You have a presupposed bias to accept anything that the
Bible
+AD4-says.
TERRY
Like I said you have confirmed to me that you seem arrogant as I stated
above. You have no idea what kind of bias I have. If you think I have a
bias then I can certainly think that you are arrogant. However I do accept
the Bible as truth, because I have no reason not to accept it as truth after
having studied it for a number of years. If I am ever given sufficient
reason not to believe in it then I will reconsider, but I know that is not
going to happen. Did I not say I can believe some of the other extra
ordinary claims of Tacitus and Suetonius, however I would have to studied
each of the claims first, just as I have
studied the Bible.
+AD4-TILL
+AD4-So when are you going to cite the places where Tacitus and Suetonius
+AD4-mentioned John the Baptist and James?
TERRY
Why do you keep repeating yourself in the same post. You have already
mention that you want me to show you what Tacitus and Suetonius mention
about John, James and Jesus. This makes about the third time in
the above message Till you mention this, or do you think I couldn't read it
the first time. That is one of the main reasons I don't like commenting on
your post because
you seem Arrogant. Do you think by repeating yourself you are going to
intimidate me into doing something. I do believe I have already commented
on it some in my first post on this subject.
+AD4APg-SUETONIUS a second century Roman historian mentions a name Chrestus, who
could have been Christ. He refers to disturbances made by the Jews because
of the followers of Chrestus, which might have been persecution by the Jews
because of the preaching work, which was done in a number of cities. Acts
18:2 mentions how Claudius ordered all the Jews to depart from Rome,
Suetonius also mentions this deportation in his work +ACI-THE DEIFIED CLAUDIUS+ACI-.
I will comment more on Tacitus and Suetonius later. I am also not looking
at other threads on this subject because I don't have time to comment on
the same post by a lot of different skeptical people.
