As for his [Dick Jones'] degrees, or his money, I have no way of
verifying those things, but I do have some reason to believe him. I
have seen his e-mails to another list. He is clearly an intelligent,
well-educated person who seems to have the leisure time to search for
interesting anecdotes to mail to the other list. There are many people
who have both MD and JD degrees - some of them contribute to *Medical
Economics*, which my father receives. There are also a small number
of people who are independently wealthy due to their making smart,
timely, and lucky investments. It is unlikely that anyone just
starting out now in real estate investments could make a fortune, but
Dick Jones started a long time ago. So I believe that he could have a
lot of money, as he says.
My point is this: It is quite possible that Dick Jones is telling the
truth about himself. (I have made it clear before that I believe him.)
I don't think his credentials and his wealth are really an issue
anyway. If anyone wants to pick on him for something, it should be for
making vulgar ad hominem attacks, especially since he is capable of
refraining from such insults. It seems to me
that he has recently been less vulgar on this list (but that could
just be my imagination).
For all those who think that I am just a gullible "xian" who has been
fooled by Dick Jones, may I remind all of you that there is little or
no cost to me if it turns out that I am wrong and Dick Jones has no
degrees and is not who he says he is. I am not sleeping with him. I am
not going under his knife on the operating table. I am not hiring him
as my lawyer. I am not handing over my life savings for him to invest
for me (I don't have any savings anyway - I just have debts). All I
am doing is reading and responding to some of his messages.
At worst, I might lose credibility on this list when people say "I
told you so". Since many of the atheists on this list already think
that I have no credibility anyway, what more do I have I lose? Can I
have a credibility of
*negative infinity*? Maybe I already do. But there's not much I can do
about that anyway, short of renouncing my faith and becoming an
outspoken atheist. My
Catholic faith has become stronger since I arrived on this list, so I
see little likelihood of THAT scenario.

Since I went on record as stating that I believed Dick Jones was
telling the truth about his education, etc. (and I still believe him),
I will now go on record as saying that I find it painful and
disgusting to read the vulgar insults he has been hurling at SJW (and
others). He is certainly capable of doing a lot better than that.I
