>(DAVE 4/16) Drew: Thanks for this post. A couple of questions:
>
>DREW
> I came to the conclusion that there
>cannot be a god for many reasons after that:
>1) After 24 years of prayer, at times almost begging for some
>positive sign or communication,
>
>(DAVE 4/16) Drew: This helped convince you there was no God? I can see it
>disappointing you that you may not have felt that you received some sort of
>indication, but surely you logically woulnd't conclude that he didn't exist
>because of this. You could pray to Bill Clinton for 24 hours to give you a
>"sign" and chances are you wouldn't think you received such a thing either.
>Does that mean he doesn't exist? What were you expecting? And why would
>you expect God to do what you asked?
>
TILL
Are newcomers to the list beginning to understand why I said that false
analogies have become Dave Court's stock in trade?
(DAVE 4/25) Farrell: Seems a fair question to ask of Drew. He is equating
God in human terms, expecting an answer as a human would provide. I am
asking him, then, in terms of another human, if he qould expect the same
results, and make the same conclusions. Are newcomers to the list beginning
to understand that Farrell is more concerned with people bashing and issue
avoidance then he is with sincere discussion?
DREW
>2) The only reason I was taught about god in the christian way was
>because of the accident of the geographical location of my birth,
>
>(DAVE 4/16) Drew: Then how do you explain the millions of Christians not
>born in your "geographical area"?
TILL
Well, what about the obvious fact that Christianity is ingrained in many
geographical regions that Drew doesn't live in? What about the widespread
missionary activities that have been used to transplant Christianity to
regions where it wasn't generally known? Could these possibly account for
the millions of Christians who were not born in Drew's geographical region.
(DAVE 4/25) Farrell: The "spreading" of Christianity is a result of
widespread "missionary" movement, including the "spread" to our geographical
region. Drew stated he knew of God only because of where he was born. I
stated that there are many areas he was not born where Christianity is
prevalent as well, so his reasoning that he is ONLY a Christina becuase he
is North American is not true and is not a sound reason to conclude that God
does not exist. North American Christianity is the result of missionary
spreading of the gospel as well, so your point, although blatantly obvious,
doesn't serve any purpose here.

"An inevitable result fo autonomy is relativity. If men are their own
creators, then the social environment, destiny, and meaning of existence
created by one group of people, in one place and time, are not necessarily
relevant to another group of people in a different historical context.
Those in each society bring into being a system of thought and values that
has meaning only for those who create and live within it. This is
particularly true in the realm of morals...."
