Atheists, on the other hand, know that the world will only get better
if we make it better. There is no Benevolent Old White Man in the
clouds who is looking out for us. If we want to eliminate injustice,
we have to do it
ourselves.

There some things that man has not been able to change as of yet,
however your statement changes nothing Eric, just because a person is
a Christian
does not mean they have to set around on there hands. So even if I am
a Christian I can still do many things to help people around me. I do
believe Martin Luther King Jr. tried his best to eliminate injustice
for black
people (and other people as well) and he call himself a Christian.
>ERIC
I did not mean to imply that all Christians have the lazy "God will
take care of it" attitude. There may even be as many active Christians
as non-active. That does not, however, undo the harm done by those who
hold and teach tat attitude.

The governor of "The Great State of Arkansas" (who just happens to be
a baptist minister) pissed off the environmentalists on Earth Day with
the following statement:
from the NW Arkansas Morning News:
Huckabee, addressing the Farm Bureau on Monday, said: "I believe God
made us and God made the earth ... He gave us the privilege to use it
and enjoy the resources, but never to worship it. We’re to worship
Him, not the things He made. To me, environmentalists are those who
worship the things that He made rather than He who made them."
This guy is the worst thing to happen to Arkansas. Of course, it
doesn't take a xian to make such statements.
Remember when someone in Reagan's administration
(I believe it was the Secretary of the Interior) said of the Redwood
National Forest, "when you've seen one redwood, you've seen them
all."? Geez!!!!!!
