Yeah wow.  See below.  I bet some Christian stayed up all night figuring 
that one out.  Anyone want to publish a quickie end of the world book?

>From what I understand, there are one or more early  

manuscripts that have the number 616 instead of 666.  
However, as to 666 being "esoteric" the actual greek numbers used were 
not three of the same digits, like in our modern number system.  I can't 
find the paper on the web again for some reason, but search for a paper 
at Dallas Tehological Seminary which goes into this.
