This is a good opportunity to give a tip that can save people like Ben the
delay in getting information like this. To find a passage of scripture, all
one needs to do is consult a concordance. Select a key word from the
passage you are looking for, and look that word up in the concordance, and
it will list every biblical verse where it occurs with a brief phrase to
enable the researcher to recognize which particular verse he/she is looking
for. Since most concordances in libraries will be KJV references, one would
need to know how the verse reads in this version. However, there are
concordances of other versions, but they may not be available in your local
libraries.
EDWARDS:
I downloaded a version of the online bible a couple of months ago and have
found it immensely helpful. If you're willing to wait the time required to
download all the versions, you can get KJV, New KJV, Bible in Basic English,
Darby Bible, Textus Receptus, various commentaries, and the Strong number
stuff. It is, verily, verily, the cat's rear end (slang for "a good thing"
where I come from). It has functions that let you go directly to a specific
passage (e.g., is 7:14) as well as a very powerful search function (e.g.,
search for all instances of "hate"). If things haven't changed, you can get
at it from www.onlinebible.org. I think the actual download site might be
somewhere in canada, but either the onlinebible site or a net search should
get you to it. It's a bit of a nutroll getting set up, but I think it's
well worth the effort, especially if you have real-time online conversations
(cut and paste is great ;-) )
