You're certainly right if the 1950s were used to indicate the first eight
years of that decade. In that case, I would undoubtedly have reacted as
Dave and Walt, Jr., now do, but by 1959, I had definitely turned down the
road toward skepticism. I had seen just too many problems in the Bible by
then to remain a dyed-in-the-wool biblicist.
