>The cursing of the fig tree has been hard to understand. Many preachers and
>Bible students wonder why Jesus cursed the tree. Some say it was the fruit
>season, but the tree had not given its fruit. These people fail to see that
>a tree by the roadside suffers at the hands of hungry travelers. If Jesus
>had gone to this tree looking for food, many others had done the same and

>Others say the tree was late in bearing its fruit. This could hardly have

>would surely not have gone looking for figs out of due season.
And? You stated that the argument for it "not being the season" was put forth by Lamsa as an example of other people's errors. Above you give a quote where Lamsa describes what he thinks have been errors by others, but *none* of those "errors" include the argument that it was "not the season for figs." In fact, all of the above implicitly assume that it *was* the season for figs, and this contradicts the biblical text. Which is what Lamsa does. Besides, how can it be an "error of the pulpit" to state that it was not the season for figs when it states in the bible that it was not the season for figs???
