Where would Thomas Jefferson be if he called himself an Agnostic? I
know that if there is a god, it sure as shootin ain't the
Judeo-Christian god and if there is a god, it sure as hell don't need to
be worshipped. Did it ever occur to you that we may just be like batter
for bread, expanding and multiplying and that some day god might just
throw us all in the oven where we can burn. We're all in the same
batter. Christian, Jew, Muslim. Shinto. Bhuddist, Atheist and even a
Doubting Deist like me. We'll all burn together no matter what we
believe.

But batter "becomes" bread which is much more useful and nourishing
than the "batter" itself. So if your analogy is true, we may
become "better" people after the suffering. Also, since bread is
to be eaten, if God eats the bread, then we become one with God
which seems to be the goal of religion anyway. In other words,
your own view could be seen as "positive" if one wanted to have
such an outlook.
