RONCRISS
I'll try to make this short. Sorry about the caps, I'm new to the
net and didn't realize that indicated yelling insanely. You all must
have misinterpreted the evidence there (a little dig!).
In the Judeo/Christian paradigm trees and animals are not accorded
equality with humans. You may choose to differ here if you like. The
simple fact is that Jesus cursed the fig tree before going into
Jerusalem. The fig tree is symbolic of Jerusalem or Israel in what
Christians refer to as the O.T. (see the book of Joel for a significant
example). When they left Jerusalem the tree was withered.
Any Jew familiar with the Scriptures would have gotten the message:
Jerusalem will be destroyed for not accepting the Messiah. I'm sorry
if this is not clear to you. To me there is no need to argue further
in its defense because it is so obvious.
I don't doubt that Jesus also wants us to have faith. I don't
seriously believe for a minute that he wants us to use it to destroy
trees or throw stones. But even if I did wither a tree you would
probably say it was a coincidence, caused by some environmental
factor (Titus?), not faith (God/Jesus?).

RACERX:
Thats quite an explanation, Ron. I never said it was patently immoral
to cut down trees (as long as they are your own). I said the story made
Jesus look insane for cursing a tree, sort of like *you* look when you
scream at people. Since his "dad" did the same thing (cursed
the *earth* "because of Adam's sin") its not entirely inconsistent, just
insane.

It seems you have something against the ecology movement, and thats
very typical of christians. After all, "all things work together for
the good" "whatever happens is God's will", and "Jesus will fix
everything", no matter how bad you mess up the earth. This ignorant
cop-out makes me sick. Each generation of mindless ecoterrorists thinks
that Jesus is "coming soon". Each one is wrong, but that doesn't stop
the next batch from being idiots too. Every week, they pray for Jesus to
come back, and unleash fire and brimstone upon the earth. Christians are
such nice people.
