Greetings to all.
Who among us has not heard of David slaying Goliath, that wonderful =
moral lesson of courage, determination, and the little underdog winning =
out over the big bully? (See 1 Samuel:17, anyone who somehow hasn't!)
What's all this then? Elsewhere, the bible says that Goliath was =
actually slain by Elhanan, son of Jaareoregim, the Bethlehemite! (See 2 =
Samuel 21:19) =20
Unless someone wants to offer a "two different Goliaths theory", which I =
think I could successfully refute......or show me how David, the son of =
an Ephrathite of Bethlehem in Judah, named Jesse, can be the same =
person as Elhanan, son of Jaareoregim, or offer some other far-fetched =
apology for this contradiction, I think we have a very clear-cut case of =
errancy concerning one of the most popular "sunday school" stories of =
the entire OT. If even this story can't be believed, what story can?=20
