>Wow! Some cool stuff is on A&E!
Now I'm watching the second part of "The First 1000 Years
of Christianity".
I think the Irish got it right!
When St. Patrick started trying to convert the Irish, he
concentrated on teaching a god of love & peace instead
of a god of judgement & punishment. He used familiar
Druid symboligy & beliefs to convert them. The Druids
already viewed "3" as a holy number. They were already
familiar with "trinities", and Patrick used the 3-leaf
clover to teach it. The description of this flavor of
xtianity was very appealing to me, especially because they
gave power to women (some female saints came from this area).
They also give xtianity a much better image in my opinion.
Its's getting ready to move on to Byzantine stuff.
Fall of Rome and such, ya know...
