The Heaven's Gate cult claimed that a UFO was following in the tail of the
Hale-Bopp comet, and that it was coming to take them away to a higher plane
of existence.
Do you believe that claim? (PADRO:no)
Do you sense any obligation to prove that the claim was NOT true? (PADRO:yes)
If you will answer these questions you may (although I doubt you will) begin
to understand who should bear the burden of proof when assertions are made.
To an atheist, your claim that a "God" exists is just as fantastic as the
Heaven's Gate's claim about the UFO is to you

Why would a Heaven's Gater feel any obligation to prove what they already
believed to be true? (diluted as they might have been.) Is it because you
have doubts and are considering they might have been right and you missed your
ride home, and as long as they can't prove you wrong, you fall into this
safety net?
