To David Court:
Since you are one of the very few on the errancy list who
appears to behave somewhat rationally, you have succeeded
in conjuring me up once again.
>(DAVE 4/5) Hello everyone: I'm sorry I am behind on things but can
I
>get
>some background on Mr. Jones and what has happened here from someone
>(including from him if he is still on the list)?
My background is that I am a self-taught philosopher. I was
told of this list in connection with the misuse of logic and
semantics. I came to look at it. It was even more illogical
that I expected. The mob took everything I said out of context,
misinterpreted it, jumped to wild erroneous conclusions, and
then claimed a victory. In point of fact, I'm an ethical
relativist, just like Till. No, not just like Till, since I
make no claims beyond the objective fact that relative morality
based on subjective whims is found in various societies. The
bulk of morality is unreasonable and illogical.
>(DAVE 4/5) Hello Dick: I'm sorry I haven't been following previous
>posts,
>but you state above that the "Bible can never be proven wrong by
playing
>word
>games". This leads me to believe that you may be an inerrantist.
Are
>you?
>If not, what is your position on the errancy of the Bible?
No human writing, whether it's the Manifesto of Karl Marx
or the Bible can be "proven" "wrong" by playing word games
which is all those on this list do.
In fact, the Bible, along with the Koran and the Vedas, and
dozens of other religious tomes of mankind are indeed
inerrant to those who *understand* what is being said. Few
do. Knowledge obtained through faith is infallible, unlike
the uncertain knowledge obtained by the scientific method.
Jesus was nothing but a common rabble rouser much like those
in the Mideast now, and much like the mob on this list. He
was tried for rebellion against Rome, more as a nuisance
agitator, and he was executed. He died and is still dead just
like the human being he was.
(DAVE 4/5) Dick: I just noticed that you have "Doctor of Divinity"
attached to your list of accolades. Are you a Christian?
No, I am not a Christian and have not been a Christian for
over 30 years. I was a Roman Catholic. My two degrees of
BD and DD from a hick fundamentalist Bible college were
obtained while I was a practicing attorney as a hobby to
(1) learn more about the Bible, which all on this list
should do before they try to criticize it, (2) to give
me the legal status of a minister, which I wanted for
various reasons, and (3) for personal reasons, having
five relatives who are very successful evangelists
and ministers. To argue with them, I had to become one
of them, something else those here fail to understand.
My philosophy is summarized at www.iland.net/~box191/phil2.htm
You are innocent, having not read my warning to the list not
to discuss me after I left. But I say, do not discuss me on
this list. The Internet did not repeal the laws of libel nor
the laws of copyright. If you don't know what you're saying,
it could be very costly, especially to those in the United
States easily reached, but all those in countries with the
English common law or international copyright treaties are
vulnerable. I have the time and money and knowledge to play
legal games, which I rarely lose. Two cases of mine on
misuse of material I published on the Internet have been
settled out of court to my satisfaction, one in Indiana and
one in Washington. I travel wide and far and it's all the
same to me whether my camper is parked in New York or
California where all it takes is a small filing fee for me
to file a lawsuit taking someone many thousands to defend
with a most real possibility of losing, particularly since
I am not constrained by any notion of legal ethics. The
law is on my side.
I will be glad to discuss topics privately, but any rational
person can see the errancy list is too fanatical for anything
truthful to be discussed. The majority are rabid Atheists
promoting their Religion, by any means, foul or fair, mostly
by lies and ad hominem.
