I'd like to add as well that I didn't have a bad experience with religion -
I loved my religion.  I was going to be a missionary.   It's just that the
more I explored it, the less sense it made with everything else, until I
finally had to discard it.

But I will admit I'm much happier as an atheist - the world makes sense to
me now.
