(Ian 5/2)A good Christian believes, "My God, right or wrong, and my God
is never wrong."

(Mike) Correct.

(Ian 5/2)A good Christian believes, "My country, right or wrong, and my
country is never wrong."

(Mike) A good Christian believes, "My country, right or wrong. My country
may at times be wrong, but I will obey the laws of my country unless
or until they require me to violate the laws of my God."

(Ian 5/3) That seems to be rather subjective. Certainly we should never
have been over in Viet-nam but who do we find over there? None other than
Jerry McDonald, preacher of the church of Christ. Of course, he may have
been over there as a chaplain but look at all the good christians the
chaplains were ministering to.

(Ian 5/2) A good Christian believes, "My boss, right or wrong, and my
boss is never wrong."

(Mike) A good Christian believes, "My boss, right or wrong. My boss may
sometimes be wrong, and I may tell him so in a proper manner.
However I will be the best employee I can be as long as the
requirements of my boss do not violate the requirements of my God or
my country."

(Ian 5/3) Once again, this is subjective. My personal experience, even
with the most 'moral' of Christians is that when they bring a wrong to
the attention of the boss, and the boss tells them to shut up and do it
(or not do it), they will obey rather than get on the wrong side of him.
(Of course he was just not being a 'good christian' so this eliminates
99.99% of them.)

(Ian 5/2) A good Christian believes, "The husband and father, right or
wrong, and the husband or father is never wrong."

(Mike) A good Christian believes, "The husband right or wrong. The
husband is the head of the wife and the family. The husband/father may
sometimes be wrong, but should be a good enough Christian to
recognize when he has been in error with his conduct toward his
family and his responsibilities to them and rectify that matter."

(Ian 5/3) Mike, why don't you get your nose out of the Bible long enough
to take a good look at the real world. Talk to some divorce counselers
and other family couselers. What you are saying in all the above is that
there aren't any 'good christians.'

(Ian 5/2) A good Christian believes these things because the Bible tells
them this is so.

(Mike) Correct. :)

(Ian 5/2) This is exactly what makes a good Nazi.

(Mike) Does it now. I may be wrong, but it was my understanding that
Hitler was strongly influenced by Darwin.

(Ian 5/3) Mike, we had a discussion about this just a short while ago.
Hitler was a Christian! Pope Pius XII approved of his exterminating the
Jews. Maybe he was influenced by Darwin because unlike God, he did not
sacrifice the perfect animals, he sacrificed the weak and disabled.

(Mike) What makes a good Atheist, Izz? Just curious.

(Ian 5/3) Why Mike, are you asking Izz? Well, I'll answer anyway. A good
freethinker, which includes atheists. agnostics, Deists, Theists (some),
humanists and others, is a person who can discuss things with others,
read, think, and then make a rational decision.
