<< I seriously believe that if the Bible said "The Sun is Black" in
one verse, and in another it said "The Sun is White", you would
not see this as a contradiction, but just state that since we see that
the sun is orangeish, and since the bible is inerrant, that these
need to be reasonably reconciled. Well, Black and White are at
the opposite ends of the color scale, and white contains all colors,
while black contains none, so we are to mix the two together in a
manner to obtain orange. -- R Jason Valentine

Well here comes a real live kicking example of where two
popular inerrantist apologists (Norman Geislser and Thomas
Howe) stooped to doing just what you describe.

"...even if taken literally, they are not necessarily
contradictory, for what is light to God can be darkness to us.
For example, the dawn brings light to the robin, but darkness
to the bat. Indeed, the bringing light of His transcendent deity
can create darkness for our finite attempt to comprehend
God. So there is no necessary conflict, even if light and
darkness are understood literally." --When Critics Ask., pg.

They were trying to deal with the following contradictory
verses:

God dwells in light.

...the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath
immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach
unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see... 1 Tim. 6:15-16

Bless the LORD, O my soul... Who coverest thyself with
light as with a garment... Psalms 104:1-2

He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in
the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him. Dan. 2:22

God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 1 John 1:5

* * VERSUS * *

God dwells in darkness.

And he made darkness pavilions round about him, dark
waters, and thick clouds of the skies. 2 Sam. 22:12

Then spake Solomon, The LORD said that he would dwell in
the thick darkness. 1 Kings 8:12

He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about
him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies. Psalm 18:11

The LORD reigneth... Clouds and darkness are round about
him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne.
Psalm 97:1-2
