in the same predicament then as me: how do you know that
Jesus or Alexander were NOT born to virgins?>>

<< DAR 2/28
You can argue my beliefs I guess but that puts you in the same
predicament as me: how do you know that the Invisible Pink
Unicorn is NOT ruling the universe?>>

(COURT 3/2) Darrel: Well, I guess you agree: we're all in the
same predicament as far as proving things goes...>>>

DAR 3/2
Isn't it a little embarrassing when you find that in the proving
department your beliefs on par with invisible pink unicorns? This
has been my whole point of making the comparison.
But I don't think you get it.

DAVE
...as far as proving things goes (it is difficult to do isn't it, when
someone asks?).

DAR
Giving evidence is not difficult for most claims. Even many
very extraordinary claims can be supported (these requiring
stronger evidence before being accepted of course). You are so
far from any kind of proof for the vast majority of claims that the
word is really not even appropriate. Lets just say it would be
good if you could give any support for some of your wild beliefs.
The fact that you cannot and are reduced to admitting that they
largely on par with Invisible Pink Unicorn assertions should tell
you something.

DAVE
The answer to your question is the same one I would give if you
asked me how I know Barbara Streisand is not my wife - I know
my wife, and she is not Barbara Streisand.>>

DAR
Another bad analogy of course. How could it not be? We have
evidence for wives and for Barbara Streisand but we have no
evidence for invisible pink unicorns or miraculous virgin births.

DAVE quotes:
"I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in the synagogues
and in the temple, where the Jews always meet, and in secret I
have said nothing. Why do you ask me? Ask those who have
heard me what I said to them. Indeed they know what I said."
- Jesus >>

DAR
Dave is quoting from my book here, page 67 (jest kidding).
Why don't we take a moment to contrast this verse with some of
the others that disagree with it Dave? You know, the ones that
show that rather than this God speaking openly to the world,
giving freely and wanting all to be saved, he actually hardens
hearts and speaks in parables to specifically keep people from
understanding and being converted. Or at least he claims to in "his"
book.

Consider:

He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you
to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is
not given. (17) For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and
righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and
have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and
have not heard them. Matt. 13:11, 17

...the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which
believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is
the image of God, should shine unto them. 2 Cor. 4:4

He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they
should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart,
and be converted, and I should heal them. John 12:40

For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts, that they
should come against Israel in battle, that he might destroy them
utterly, and that they might have no favour, but that he might
destroy them... Josh. 11:20

O LORD, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and
hardened our heart from thy fear? Isaiah 63:17

So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth,
but of God that sheweth mercy... Therefore hath he mercy on
whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
Rom. 9:16,18

And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that
they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who
believed not the truth... 2 Thess. 2:11-12

And they understood none of these things: and this saying was
hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.
Luke 18:34

...Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of
God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in
parables: That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing
they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should
be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them. Mark 4:11-
12

Some say I am too skeptical, but I doubt it.
