Right, then. So serpent always means satan. That's nice, because Genesis
3:14-15 shows that I, as the offspring of woman, will crush satan myself.
In Exodus 4:4, why did God command Moses to take satan by the tail? In
Exodus 7:12, why did Aaron's satan swallow up the satans of Pharaoh's wise
men?
I guess that, as Freud would say, sometimes a snake is just a snake.
Oh, wait, Revelation 12:9 was referring to a particular serpent. According
to Magill, the same serpent from Genesis 3. I see. This was some
kind of serpent who was flying around in the heavens at the time of the
visions in Revelations. That's strange. It seems (Genesis 3:14) that
the particular serpent in Genesis was cursed to crawl on its belly and
eat dust "all the days of [its] life." So how did he (Revelation 12:4)
sweep stars from the sky, if he was crawling on the ground? How did
he (:7) cause a war in heaven if he was in the dust? From his former
position on the ground in the dust, how far did the serpent have to fall
when he was hurled to the earth (:9)?
Must've been that God's curse on the serpent missed, or wore out over
the next few thousand years or something. Or did "all the *days* of
[its] life" mean that at night, Satan could still stand up, go to discos,
sweep stars from the sky, etc.?
Maybe Mr. Magill should consider reading that book _The Origin of Satan_
that Nancy Todd suggested to the list. Of course, to make sense of this
book, it would be necessary to open one's mind to the idea that the bible
is a book by humans and shaped over time by the thoughts and beliefs of
humans...

Magill sure fooled god here! The bible may say for him not to call people
fools, but just implying it prevents any danger of hellfire. Just in case
God does exist, we'd better all take good-fooling lessons from Mr. Magill.
