Of course, the strategy here is that if one can claim to have
resolved the NUMBER ONE (tremble) alleged Bible contradiction by the
usual how-it-just-might-possibly-have-happened-by-some-wild-stretch-and
contorsion-of-the-imagination scenario, then one feels justified in
claiming that any other alleged contradiction would be a "lesser"
one, and thus unworthy of comment. It sounds like a short-cut to
claiming victory.

You have to know Jerry Moffitt to understand his challenge. He and I
started a written debate about seven years ago, which has barely gotten off
the ground because Jerry takes so long to complete his manuscripts. My
fourth affirmative manuscript was sent to him over three years ago, and he
still has not reponded to it, although I understand that he intends to.
Anyway, in this debate, as far as it has progressed, no matter what argument
for biblical errancy I would present, Jerry would urge me to present my
number one, best argument. In my opinion, Jerry couldn't even answer the
arguments that he considered second rate, much less more difficult ones, and
I'm willing to leave it to readers to make their own judgments about that.
If Jerry ever cooperates on a steady basis so that we can get this debate
finished, I will publish it. After that, we are supposed to begin another
written debate on prophecy fulfillment, or at least he promised to do so in
our oral debate in Portland, TX.
At any rate, this send-me-your-number-one-argument is merely grandstanding,
because an argument that would make an impression on one person wouldn't
necessarily make an impression on another. What one person might consider a
serious biblical discrepancy, others would consider trivial.
