A crack in Aubrey's defense!

Now I am going to show you some facts. Egypt built boats over 300'. They
even had a warship over 400'. However, it was so large and clumsy, that it
was not seaworthy enough to be used in combat.

Large, clumsy, and not seaworthy. Wasn't this posted a LONG time ago to
this list... Are you finally "waking up and apologizing"?

Aubrey
It was too hard to control in rough waters. So they used it for a
showpiece. Its deck could hold 3000 people and it was operated by 4000
oarsmen and had four rams in its bows.

RJV 1/29
Hard to control in rough waters.... Hmmmm....
BTW - 7000 people (an unconfirmed amount since you present no sources)
take up far less room than all the animals.

Aubrey
Greece and Egypt had a power struggle to see who could build the largest
ships. Normally, warships of that time carried about 170 oarsmen and were
120' long. The ships got bigger and ended up with some large enough to carry
1800 oarsmen. But in the end, Egypt had the largest of them all. The Royal
barge of Egypt was over 300' and was towed by smaller boats. Both sides went
back to the smaller boats because the larger the vessels were harder to
control. The Egyptians found that they could make boats longer and wider but
not taller because it made them unstable.

RJV 1/29
Tall boats this big are unstable. Is 3 stories tall?

Aubrey
The fact that they didn't use a
sailing mast was the reason they could build them larger since a mast tended
to put high stress on the structure of ships. The ark didn't have a mast
either. Early boats of Egypt used nothing more than ropes to tie the frame
of their boats to the planks.

No - the ark didn't have a mast. But it was 3 stories tall. Without
references, I have no idea what these boats looked like, but from your
description, they all seem to be "barges" - one level ships that had
virtually no displacement.

were already two women Grand Masters at that time, both from Georgia.
Since Robertson's gaffe, three more women became Grand Masters]
