Till,
The reason your friend didn't find what he was looking for was because of
misinterpretation of the Bible. Only after scholars understood the
Babylonian writing,
it was shown that Birs Nimrud was the tower of the city of Borsippa. The
tower meant by the Biblical story was, of course, that of Babylon itself.
[Rand McNally, Bible Atlas]
In recent years, among the many archeological discoveries confirming the
Bible are:

* The court of Pilate, has been discovered. Source: The Archeology of Palestine]
* Evidence of Jezebel was found. ( I found that out 2 years ago.)
* The city of Israelite bondage in Egypt has been located
* The walled city of Jericho has been discovered
* And of course, the use of iron in the days of Noah. (Didn't I tell you
that before?)
You want more iron, you build a bigger smelter.

There are a lot of other recent discoveries that I will post later. So you
see, the more archeologist look, the more it is shown that the Bible is
indeed, an historical book. And it is the most misinterpreted book that I
know of. Ancient people didn't speak in ways that we do and that's part of
the problem. But now, as archeologist understand more about the langage, the
more the Bible is understood. One other note, the Bible mentions that all of
the rain didn't come from the skies, but also from the "Great Deep."
(Genesis 7:11) Now there were some archeologist who believed that the sea
was thousands of feet higher than now but acknowledged that it was over
billion years ago. Ask them where the water went. The KNOWN underground
water storage is around 2 million cubic miles. I say check under the oceans.
After all, scientist know more about the moon than whats underneath the
ocean floor, except for the landscape. Some have said that water can't exist
under ocean as on land. Bonk. Why not? You got oil under the seafloor. Why
not water? After all, archeologist have uncovered evidence of a massive
floor at the time I mentioned and confirmed by archeologist in the Middle
East. As far as the other questions Michael brought up?! time will tell and
vindicate the Bible as it is doing right now. Did you know that the
Mediterranean sea was a desert? I am waiting for Michael to hit me with the
time-line. It is old but there is a certain piece of information that I am
withholding until he responds as to when it was a desert. The books will
show it was a desert 'way back when' but they left something else out.
