Farrell & Michael, on the other hand, seem to be very clear and direct.
They have an occasional regrettable tendency to be sarcastic, but in the
face of such stubbornness one can hardy blame them. They both seem to have
done their home-
work and (I hate to say this) it looks like they both have an edge on
Matthew, David & (especially!) Aubrey intellectually, educationally,
logically & as communicators.
(Now Matthew will probably quote the Bible where it says something about
the wisdom of the world being foolishness in the sight of God. Don't you
see, Matthew, the purpose of this list is to determine if the Bible is worth
quoting?)
There's more, but this post is too long already. To be (possibly) continued...

TILL
Gene, please do continue your posting. I'm not looking for praise,
because--this is going to sound very arrogant--I know from what I learned
from my education and teaching experience that my postings use approaches
rooted in logic and reasonable critical thinking. This doesn't mean that I
never make logical mistakes, because everyone does. My main logical fallacy
is ad hominem statements, but as you said above, the stubbornness that I
encounter from inerrantists who obviously don't have a leg to stand on but
still proclaim their victory over the errantists makes it difficult to
resist irony and sarcasm. McCaughan's posting and now yours have caused me
to make a belated new year's resolution to let up on the sarcasm. (I'll
probably be able to stick to it for no longer than a week.)

The reason why I hope you will continue your posting is because I also hope
that inerrantists like Matthew, Dave, and Aubrey will see how they sound to
others. It might (a very unlikely might) cause them to reexamine their
positions. I'm not publishing *The Skeptical Review* and spending hours at
my computer to send postings to errancy because it's fun. I have a desire
to help people find their way out of the fetters of biblical fundamentalism,
because I know from my experience that this is a terrible philosophy to be
enslaved to.
