Till Kicked out of Church Services (to Farrell)

(COURT 2/6) Farrell: Unbelievable. And inexcusable. Obviously the
preacher's conduct, but also the anonymity of the letter - why is that
person not making themselves known to you? I just can't understand
behaviour like that.
Have you ever found out who it was?

TILL
Well, you have to understand the pressure that is on an "ordinary" church
member not to disagree with the preacher. In the town where I live, it
would be very difficult for a church member to appear to be siding with me
over her preacher. ( I say "her," because I judged my experience in
teaching writing that it was a female's handwriting.)

(COURT 2/7) Farrell: That's ridiculous - just because you have diffeent
views doesn't mean there aren't reasons to "side" with you - in this case, I
would side with you - you weren't doing anything wrong or even causing a
disturbance. More than likely, your presence intimidated the preacher more
then anything, and he used his "authority" to get rid of you in a way that
didn't reveal his true intentions - that would be my guess anyway.
There's no law demanding conformity in this world - the fact that this
particular preacher did this angers me - suffice to say, this doesn't
reflect what all preacher's are like.
At our church, the speaking pastor slots one night service each month as an
open forum for questions from the congregation - questions specifically
conerning his subject material that month, his method of presentation and
his own views. It is very frank, honest and constructive as a result -
there are no holds barred.

Regards.

Dave.
