> Hello, this is Tony Woodcock. You told me to answer carefully in reference
to your question about John 14:26.
Yes, please tell me when the Bible refers to the disciples, are the
promises and statements also referring to Christians as a whole? That
was my question.
[Tony]
Well, it states in 2 Timothy 3:16 ALL scripture is God inspired and profitable
[Mike]
Actually, the text may be translated All that is Scripture is inspired by
God, etc. Besides, "Paul" couldn't have been referring to the
Protestant NT you use (as opposed to the Douay or Ethiopian versions),
since "Timothy" probably wouldn't had even known a single NT book, let
alone the entire Protestant "Bible" from youth.
[Tony]
for reproof and correction, including John 14:26. You know that vain babbling
of a circular arguement, that is the case for other things to.
[Mike]
Eh? You mean you're saying your argument is a circular argument? Yes, I
agree.
[Tony]
Also, the only other arguement you can have is an endless arguementor
an arguement that ends uselessly(without an answer). Prove to me you are
human?
[Mike]
The Bible being the "Word of God" and me being human are two entirely
different things--the former is a dubious assertion, the latter is
something which anyone who can read and think can agree with. If one
looks under any encyclopedia or dictionary for human, I will find under
that category. Isn't that proof enough? Are you saying that because
non-Christians don't have the Bible for his/her "objective standard,"
we can't prove anything? Well, even if we couldn't prove anything, your
use of the Bible doesn't prove anything either--all it shows is that you
have an objective (outside of you) standard--it doesn't show that this
standard is from God or true.
[Tony]
You can't, and if you try I will use this vain babling on you.
[Mike]
Everything you disagree with you term "vain bab[b]ling."
[Tony]
Prove to me that you are real. Prove to me that you are not Malcolm X. You
can't. I am correcting you, by the way, not debating. You can't prove
anything to me so you are incorrect according to this vain babbling you guys
adhere to. See ya,
[Mike]
Are you for real, Tony? Surely you're not equating the truth of my
existence with the dubious assertion that the Protestant Bible (likely
the KJV) is the Word of God, are you? The degree of certainty is quite
different; tell ya what, what would you like me to do for you in order to
provide conclusive evidence for you that I am real, and not Malcolm X.
The only "vain babbling" around here is coming from you.
Mike
