Isn't that nice? Could you please tell me how this differs from killing
mentally or physically handicapped children? They are defective, and in
some cases it is perfectly obvious that there will be no treatment for
their condition in the foreseeable future. They do not choose this
condition, but are born into it, just like your "ontological defect",
and cannot change their condition through their own choices.
I do see a couple of differences; killing infants would not necessitate
eternal torture by burning--they could be killed painlessly, so it's
just a teensy bit more humane that god's method. But I guess that's to
be expected; our secular society doesn't allow slavery, child-beating,
or the execution of women for infidelity, either. I can see why you'd
want to get back to god's plan!
I assume you are in favor of euthanizing such "defective" infants? If
not, why not? If your answer is that only god is fit to judge the
"defectiveness" of someone, then my response is that modern doctors are
perfectly capable of determining if a human being has any of a broad
range of specific defects, as well as the biological consequences of
those defects; some of which, as I'm sure you're aware, are devastating.
I have another quick question, If you're willing to indulge me. I
gather from the rest of your post that you don't believe that all
infants are "saved" (I put it in quotes, because I don't know what you
believe the term means), as many christians do; but rather that some of
those who die at birth are saved, while others are damned to eternal
torment. Is this what you believe? As an aside, do you think the
damned babies will be allowed to develop their cognitive abilities in
hell, as a normal child would, so that at some future time they can have
it explained just why they have only ever known fiery torment?
Two last questions: do you share your faith with others? Does your
church have missionaries? I don't see why they would, if those who are
going to be saved are predestined to be saved, and likewise those who
are to be damned, then there's no point even telling anyone about jesus,
because you can't affect anyone's fate anyhow. Have I misunderstood
your beliefs?
peace (if you're destined to have it, otherwise nevermind),
