TILL
I don't even know why I'm taking the time to write this response.

SARAH
I also don't know why you waste your time responding to an obviously sarcastic
post. I believe that it is important to know and use "standard english" but I
don't feel I must use it all of the time.

TILL
Now, Chris and Sarah, you may go through life sounding like ignoramuses if you
want to. That's a choice that you will have to make, and you may prove to be
exceptions and get to the top in whatever career choices you make, but the
odds are that if your language skills are deficient, you will not achieve what
you otherwise could have.

SARAH
Like, I had no hankerin' of an idea that lil' ol' me was so poor at writin.
What's an ignoramus? Is it akin to a hippopotomus?

TILL
You can also be assured that every time you write letters to
the editor or reports in your jobs, your spelling and grammatical errors are
going to be noticed. Those who notice them are going to arch their eyebrows
(at least mentally) and wonder about your qualifications.

SARAH
Preach on brother!
You can be assured that the care I take in writing posts to this list and the
care I take in writing letters to the editor or letters for my job are vastly
different.
I don't feel that people need to wonder about my qualifications on this list,
I have never claimed to be a scholar of biblical errancy. The people on this
list can arch their eyebrows to their hearts content.

TILL
Believe what you want to, Chris and Sarah. If nothing else, you can always
plead that language isn't important just to have an excuse for your own
shortcomings.

SARAH
As Mimi from "The Drew Carey Show" would say:
Bite me.

Till,
You need to lighten up a bit. Hurling insults at people is so becoming to a
person of your intelligence.
If it is your wish to have only academic snobs on the list, then say so.
