FW: Atheists in America

Does anyone know the percentage of the American population who consider
themselves atheists? Or the percentage of the religious crowd? Tell me where
you got the numbers.

I have a copy of the book "One Nation Under God" at home which is the 'latest
and best' survey of religion in the USA.  IIRC admitted atheists were under 10 
percent.  The highest percentage I do remember being in the northwest (Washington
and Oragon).

I will try to remember to look in the book this evening and get more accurate
figures.
