2 Samuel- the cities of Amon (continued)

I said-
"Some were put to work with saws, some with axes, and some were forced to
pass bricks from the buildings as they were being disassembled "thus he did
TO THE CITIES of the sons of Amon"

I say-
No, it does not say "put to work" in the text, but I it is implied. That is
the problem with this verse; it is short on verbs. A better translation
would be:

"and the people who were in her he took out and he put them at the saw, and
at slicing and at the axe and he made them pass bricks...thus he did to the
cities of amon."

* them is not exactly implied- the ending of the root is the same as the
suffix for "them", so the author could have left it that way, with the
final letter doing both actions, root and suffix. Remember, there were no
grammar books. It may be done that way elsewhere in the Bible, because it
seems I've seen it before.

I am pretty sure this is the correct translation.
