Those two statements are contradictory, Dave. As for your reasoning, since
when have you ever read a text, and reserved judgement in the manner you just
described? A simple example:
Statement 1:"Adam named his wife Eve"
Statement 2: "The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and
clothed them."
By your reasoning just outlined, we do not know whether the Adam in statement
1 is the same Adam in statement 2. According to you, we do not know if the
wife in statement 2 is the same person as Eve. With the looseness of your way
of thinking, we do not even know if the garments God made were actually given
to them; perhaps he clothed them in something else. With all the mental
reservations you propose, Bible texts hardly say anything at all.
I say that such thinking is absurd.
I also say that you never think that way, except when trying to invent
excuses for the contradictions in the Bible.
I will deal with the rest of your reply in a subsequent letter.
