<< TILL
I urge everyone not to be led into this trap [Debate Walt Jr,
privately] because you will spend as much time on private
responses to Walt as you did on responses posted on the list.

DAR
Yes, and the same thing will happen that happens when you
debate with him on the list. He will ignore points, completely
dodge questions and try to continually lead the discussion off
into his variety of philosophical la la land. The problem is that
he even does this worse in private because there is only one
person observing his methods and thus it is less embarrassing
than when you draw attention to it in front of an audience.
Very shortly after joining the list he tried to get me going
privately. Apparently he has approached several others. When I
first got on-line several years ago I use to spend a great deal of
time responding to inerrantists privately, then I realized this is
crazy. If you are going to spend some time putting together a
quality response it might as well be posted to the AOL message
boards or to errancy-l were it can be observed by many. It tends
to keep them more honest too.

TILL
I have made it my policy not to engage in private discussions,
because it imposes too much on my time. Why, for example,
would I want to spend hours each week on postings that will be
seen only by Walt when he and I could conduct discussions on
the list and have the advantage of knowing that many others are
seeing the results of our time investments?

DAR
Exactly.
Here is why Walt Jr. wouldn't want this. Many others will see
his evasions and misrepresentations (for whatever reason, he
does this continuously). They also might comment on it and
this would be, hopefully has been, embarrassing.

cheers,

Darrel

Walt Sr. to Walt Jr.
"You invariably steer our talks to presuppositions, objective
morality, invariant laws, etc., and away from inerrancy. While
all this is interesting cocktail talk, that's all it is; neatly
sophisticated argument to trap the unwary/un-knowledgeable.
While you seem well endowed with word and logic, you have
never presented one iota of EVIDENCE for any "proof" that
you have ever offered. The reason for this is abundantly clear.
You have none." --Walt Sr. 4/15
